Katy's Baby Quilt
This is the first quilt that I made for Katy. Although I did the cutting and stitching, it was truly a group effort.
Before you can understand the quilt, you must see the baby's room. My daughter picked the color scheme and my wife helped paint it. I was amazed at how ugly I thought it was. This can't possibly be a room for a little girl!

Katy's Room
You can say it is ugly - I said it.

Katy's Room
It is hard to believe that this is for a baby girl.
I knew that I had to make a quilt, but didn't have a clue about where to start. I complained to some friends and help began to come.
My friend, McKenna, who is a quilter and collects old sewing machines with me, and who has a great eye for color, sent me some fabric. It turns out that the fabric she sent matched the paint sample perfectly. Now I had the green/brown along with the brown fabric.
I still didn't know what pattern to use, so I took pictures of the room along with McKenna's fabric to a Quilt Guys gathering. That's right, there is a group of guys in Central Florida who, like me, quilt. Two of them own the Sew Mini Things Quilt Shop that I frequent.
Timm helped select the pattern. It is from a book by M'Liss Rae Hawley entitled, "More Fat Quarter Quilts."
After choosing the pattern, Timm helped choose the coordinating fabrics and I was ready to go. This was my first experience with paper piecing, but I am happy with the result.
Thanks to everyone who helped with this project.
