January 2004

An autograph quilt for my ex-boss, who is leaving the company. More than 90 employees signed the center of snow ball blocks, which I alternated with 9 patch blocks.

Sun Bonnet Sue. A friend gave me scraps which became the dresses and hats for this collection of Sues.

Some of the blocks have decorative stitching on either the hem of the dress or on the hat band.

August 2004

Last year our volunteer group made quilts for children at the Shriner's hospital.

This year our group made a quilt for every bed in every house built by Habitat for Humanity in Seminole County, Florida. (just north of Orlando, FL.)

This is a charity quilt that I made using two panels. The border is baseball caps with the John Deere name and logo.

October 2004

My mother passed away in June, 2004. When we looked through her belongings, we discovered that she had put away things for each child. Among my things were seventy two (72) 9-patch blocks made out of the ugliest polyester I have ever seen. The fabric dates back to the 1950s. Even though my mother sewed a lot, nobody remembers her ever making a quilt. Of course, now I have to finish the quilt.

I laid the blocks out, made sure that no two alike were touching, and then finished the top.
