January 2006

Embroidered snow angels. I saw the pattern in Quiltmaker magazine, January 2006 edition. It was applique, but I don't do much hand work, so I scanned the pattern and digitized it for my embroidery machine. I liked the end result, although my family claims that I made a 'Ginger Bread Man' quilt.

February 2006

I finished the Snow Angels Quilt and quilted 5 quilts for the 'Angels'. These five quilts are destined for a charity organization, a group that helps 'in jeopardy' teen girls.

March 2006

I started taking a class that involves printing a picture on fabric then using an embroidery machine to add highlights and detail to the picture. It uses a book from Cindy Losekamp called, "Pocket Panache". Here are the first two blocks.

May 2006

After finishing all four embroidery blocks, I assembled them into a wall hanging.

June 2006

This year the Quilting Angls are going to give quilts to a home that helps teen girls. I have quilted 9 quilts and have 5 more that need to be completed. That will take most of the summer.

July 2006

My daughter announced her engagement and the anticipation of a May wedding. That means a double wedding ring quilt. The main reason that I haven't tried one before is because it just didn't seem right making that special quilt for someone else. Therefore, the first will be hers.

29-Mar-2007 - I have really struggled with this quilt because of the curves involved. A friend who doesn't quilt, but sews garmets said that she could show me how to do the curves because it was just like putting a sleeve on a shirt. Now, depending on who you talk to, I am making either a double wedding ring quilt, or a shirt with 512 sleeves.

August 2006

I've been quilting a lot of quilts for the Angels. I have done more than 20 this year.

September 2006

A baby quilt for the lady who is helping to plan my daughter's wedding.
The baby's name is 'Kennedy'.

October 2006

A friend at work requested this for one of her friends. They are Florida Gator fans, I expect. :)

November 2006

This is a three-for-one quilt.

  1. A friend gave me a bag of fabric scraps and challenged me to use them in a quilt. The shapes on this quilt came from that bag of scraps.

  2. I've been wanting to make a quilt with shadows. This is my first attempt. Obviously I have some more work to do.

  3. My brother requested two quilts to be auctioned to raise money for his church. This is the first.

December 2006

Spent the month quilting more quilts for the Angels. These are also headed for the Shriner's burn hospital.
